FAQ's
What standard are the players in the band?
Our players start around grade 4/5 standard, with good sight reading skills. Not all our players have taken formal exams, and this is not an issue. We have some incredible players in our band, grade 8+, so the sky is the limit!

Do I need my own instrument?
Yes please, sadly we don't have any instruments to loan at the current time.

Where is good for parking near St Stephen's Hall?
There are a few parking spaces directly outside of the hall. If you play a smaller instrument and can walk for a few minutes, there is good side-street parking that is free near The Turk's Head pub.

What is the time commitment?
We practice every Tuesday in term-time between 7:30 and 9pm. We aim to play in a minimum of one performance per term, and there may be a few more events in June/July, which is our busiest time of year for community fair bookings.

What performance opportunities are there?
We provide live music at several community events throughout the year, including repertoire suitable for Rememberance Sunday, Christmas markets, community fairs, and family-oriented local events. We also aim to put on one more formal indoor concert each year, where there are opportunities for performing solo and in smaller groups.

What is the membership fee?
As a band, we need to cover core costs including rehearsal space hire and music. The membership fees help to cover this and are charged at...[update with latest figures]
